Jeannette chicken liver crostinis

“Here it is Jeannette, she ran a hairdressing salon in Marseille with her sister (my grandmother) who died very young and whom she therefore replaced in this role. She was an independent, stylish, funny, cheerful, and always smiling woman. She was married to Jeannot who worked as a taxi driver and both reflected the image of happiness for me. Later, when she became a widow and I went to study in Marseille, I went to her house to eat “little beef” and “pizza”, then we drank Italian-style coffee and she told me about my grandparents by showing me photos, sometimes she would come to my house and I would cook something for her. She was not an exceptional cook but she did very well with eggplant parmiggiana, roast beef and chicken liver crostini for the aperitif, the recipe of which I kept. I regret not having filmed Jeannette at home before her Alzheimer's, before she forgot the photos, faces and recipes. I called my daughter Jeanne in the hope that she would inherit, along with the first name, this good character and this propensity for happiness.” - Marie
